Grand Opening Ceremony of ORSKOREA

Greetings! We are thrilled to announce the opening of factory and company ORSKOREA (오알에스코리아) in Changwon city. The grand opening ceremony was held on October 24, 2019.

Many VIP guests attended to commemorate ORSKOREA's first steps towards a "Total Grinding Solution Provider".

President Ahmet Aslan from ORS group and the representatives of SMBS, Oh Jung In and Shim Jho Whoun who played a pivotal role in this joint venture are being introduced. Heo Sung-moo, the mayor of Chang Won, the head of public sector and many associates from global enterprises were also in attendance, adding to the significance of the event.

"ORS Korea will forever be remembered as the first Turkish company in Changwon's history," said Heo Sung-moo, the mayor of Changwon city. He added that the success of ORSKorea can serve as a powerful catalyst not only for Turkey but also for many European companies to invest in Changwon.

What is ORSKOREA?

ORSKOREA is the joint venture company of ORS Bearings, a leading Turkish precision bearing manufacturer and SMSB, a Korean precision machine tool and precision parts manufacturer.

Since its establishment in 1982, ORS has evolved into Europe's premier precision bearing manufacturer, exporting automotive components and a diverse range of bearing products to global automotive giants such as leading European car manufacturers.

What are goals of ORSKOREA?

ORSKOREA plans to manufacture and export machine tools, including automotive devices. Additionally, there are plans to pursue the development of next-generation machine tools for market expansion in regions such as Turkey and Eastern Europe in the future.

ORSKOREA specializes in producing high precision grinding machines and spindles. Besides precision grinding machining machines and motion units, ORSKOREA also offers automation system and overhaul and retrofit service to provide unique solutions. The company is committed to crafting machines that are customized specially to adapt to our customers' needs.

Managing Director Shim

Here, our managing director James Shim is demonstrating our motion units that are capable of rotational speeds ranging from 30,000 RPM to approximately 120,000 RPM, superior to any other company in Korea.

Director Shim began his career as an engineer at Shaeffler Korea (1990) and established SMSB (2000), a company focused on precision machine tools and spindle manufacturing to showcase Korean tehcnological prowess. The successful collaboration with ORS in the early 2010s was the stimulus for the inception of ORSKOREA today. In addition to his work in developing new technologies, Shim is also known for his devotion to promoting domestic manufacturing and high-precision grinding technology.

The Grand Opening Ceremony. The ceremony included a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the new factory, as well as speeches from dignitaries from both Korea and Turkey.

Upon learning the news that SMSB was pursuing a joint venture with Turkey's ORS, a city official from Changwon visited ORS's headquarters in Turkey last December to meet with CEO Aslan and introduced Changwon City's investment environment along with conveying the city's strong will to attract investment. ORSKOREA would like to express gratitude upon this opportunity to mayor Heo for his efforts to promote opening of a new standard factory built by ORS Korea in the Masan Free Trade Zone.

ORSKOREA will continue its steps to spearheading industrial development and stimulating the local economy.
